Registering to vote before Election Day saves you time and stress. An overwhelming voter turnout is expected on November 5th, 2024, and we want you to be as prepared as possible!
As a college student, you have the choice to vote in your hometown or in the town you reside in for school, but not both!
Voting in Your Hometown
Wisconsin residents can request an absentee ballot from their home town at www.myvote.wi.gov! Contact your hometown's Clerk regarding In-Person Absentee Voting or voting by mail!
Voting in Menomonie
Register to vote at the Menomonie City Clerk's Office!
Voting Options:
- Request a mail-in absentee ballot at the City Clerk's Office.
- Vote In-Person before election day, October 22nd through November 1st.
- Vote at your Polling Place on Election Day.
Early In-Person Voting:
Early in-person voting (officially called in-person absentee voting in Wisconsin) begins two weeks before Election Day and ends the Friday before Election Day. Ballots are cast in the City Clerk's Office and cannot be taken out of the clerk's office.
To Vote: Bring a valid proof of identification (it must be a physical ID, not electronic).
- Wisconsin ID, UW-Stout, Passport
- Out of State IDs are not acceptable proof of identification.

Voting at Your Polling Place on Election Day:
To register to vote: Bring a valid proof of residence (may be electronic copy).
- If you live in dorms, you can use your UW-Stout enrollment letter or an item from the proof of residence example sheet.
- If you live off-campus, refer to the proof of residence example sheet.
To Vote: Bring a valid proof of identification (it must be a physical ID, not electronic).

UW-Stout Wisconsin Voter Registration Applications
Need to register to vote? These applications already have the residential and mailing address filled out. You need to add your Dorm Room # to the mailing address and street address portion.
Please print out the completed application. Then bring the application and a proof of residence to the City Clerk's Office to register.
