Full-Time Hiring Process
Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic staff work 24-hour shifts and operate on the Coon Rapids Plan. Our full-time hiring for firefighters is done through a regional hiring process. Chippewa Valley Technical College takes all applications and does all of the testing. Please see the Fire Department Hiring website for the application information.
As positions become available, a hiring process is conducted. Applicants are given a time slot for a process that includes interviews with a panel of full-time firefighters and officers, an interview with the Police and Fire Commission, and other components relevant to employment with the Menomonie Fire Department.
Part-Time Hiring Process
Part-time staff, also known as Paid On Call (POC) firefighters, respond to fires and incidents where extra staffing is required. POC staff wear pagers and attend mandatory training on the first and third Mondays of every month.
We are always taking applications for part-time employment. Applications can be picked up and turned in at either of our stations. We keep applications on file for one year. Also included in the hiring process are an interview with Officers from the full-time staff and an interview with the Police and Fire Commission.
